About Manali

Manali is hill station which is located in mountains of Indian state of the Himachal Pradesh. It is nearer end of the kullu valley its latitude of 2050 meter (6726 ft) in the base river valley. Manali is located in the kullu district and it’s about 270 km (168mil) north of the state capital Shimla. It is small town and its population is (8096) it’s beginning often ancient trade route to ladakh and there over the karakoram pass on the yarkand and khottan in the tarim basin. Manali is most popular tourist destination and it serves as the roadway to other northern hills stations. Manali is popular as the queen of valleys; manali is named after the law giver of ancient India, Manu. Manali latterly means the abode of Manu and hence this place has huge importance from the prospective of the ethnic culture and tradition of indie. 

Best time to visit: 

During winter the climate in manali is predominantly cold and during summer moderately cool. Temperature range from 4o c to 20o c over the year, the average temperature of manali during winter is between -15o c and 5o c and during summer is between 4c and 15o c    

Event and festival in manali:

there are two major festivals which are celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. The festival is Dusshra and Hadimba Devi festivals. The Dusshera festival comes in the month of October / November. There has lot of significance and legend and hence the region becomes colorful and lively during this period. The hadimba devi festival is also one of the great and eye catching festival in manali. In the period people from different part of the state and country specially come during the celebration of the festivals and to take part in the big colorful fair. Color fair conducted within the temple complex. This fair is conducted in the month of May.

By Air: Bhutar airport is at Bhutar town, situated on NH21 about 50 km (31mil) south of manali and 10 km (6.2mil) south of kullu town and also known is kullu manali airport. Air india and some private airlines have regular flights to the airport and now recently Himalayan bulls in collaboration with deccen charters have charted flight on Kullu-Chandigarh-Kullu Sector thrice a day.

By Road: The route of Delhi to Manali is National Highway NH1 upto Ambala and from there NH22 to Chandigarh and from there by national highway NH 21 that passes through Bilaspur, sundernagar, mandi and kullu town. Distance from Chandigarh to manali is 316 km and total distance from Delhi to manali is 566 km. buses on the route are available from all major bus terminals.

By Rail: Manali is not easily approachable by rail at Chandigarh the nearest broad gauge rail head (275km) Pathankot and kalka 310 km and at joginder nagar the nearest gauge rail head.
